| Resumo | O presente trabalho de conclusão de curso é sobre o sensacionalismo no jornal norte-americano The New York Times perante o caso do serial killer Ted Bundy. Tem por objetivo central analisar a cobertura feita pelo jornal em duas matérias do jornalista Jon Nordheimer, uma sobre o julgamento e outra sobre a execução de Bundy. Para isso, analisamos duas reportagens: “ALL-AMERICAN BOY ON TRIAL”, de 1978, sobre seu julgamento e “Bundy Is Put to Death in Florida After Admitting Trail of Killings”, de 1989, sobre sua execução. O método utilizado foi a Análise de Conteúdo proposto pela autora Laurence Bardin, que analisa qualitativamente dois grandes grupos propostos – de termos sensacionalistas e estereotipados – em ambas as matérias. Ao final, considera-se que sim, o jornal The New York Times foi sensacionalista perante o julgamento e a execução de Theodore Robert Bundy, entre os anos de 1970 e 1990.; |
| Abstract | This graduation project is about the sensationalism in the North American newspaper The New York Times regarding the case of serial killer Ted Bundy. Its main objective is to analyze the newspaper's coverage in two articles written by the journalist Jon Nordheimer, one on the trial and the other on Bundy's execution. For that, we analyzed two articles: “ALL-AMERICAN BOY ON TRIAL”, from 1978, about his trial and “Bundy Is Put to Death in Florida After Admitting Trail of Killings”, from 1989, about his execution. The method used was the Content Analysis proposed by author Laurence Bardin, which qualitatively analyzes two large groups proposed – with sensational and stereotyped terms – in both articles. In the end, it is considered that yes, The New York Times newspaper was sensationalist towards the trial and the execution of Theodore Robert Bundy, between the years of 1970 and 1990.; |
