Gestão estratégica e eficiência técnica nas propriedades de leite: um estudo na região noroeste do Estado do RS

Abstract

Despite the growth in production and the importance of dairy farming for the community, the price instability and market dynamics to which farmers are exposed demand that their properties be managed efficiently and with all available resources. This is crucial for the survival of your business. Technical efficiency with its determinants and strategic management combined is a tool that can bring great benefits to its users, even though few works present both in-depth and the literature lacks consensus on the determinants of technical efficiency. This dissertation aimed to evaluate the contribution of the determinants of technical efficiency to the strategic management of dairy farms. The analysis was made by calculating the technical efficiency of the studied farms that allowed to define benchmarks and then successive regressions were made to find their determinants, which were related to works that spoke of management in dairy farms. The results showed that the variables of public policy and retirement of the external environment, the degree of intensification, mechanical milking, milk participation, roads, pasture management, herd health, economic management, agricultural waste management, milk participation and improvement genetics of the internal environment and the gender of the socioeconomic environment are determinants of technical efficiency. Regarding the relationship between it and strategic management, it was found that knowing the determinants of efficiency is possible to define where the resources should be allocated by the producer to obtain a better performance in their production, contributing at the moment when the producer strategy is defined.
