Nunes, Simone Henz
Between 1932 and 1945, happened the Second Sino-Japanese War, a conflict driven by Japan’s quest for territorial expansion and strengthening its empire. As in every war, acts of violence and barbarismo have been perpetrated, including atrocities committed against Chinese and Korean women. The objective of this work is to broaden the understanding of the so-called “comfort women” and to investigate how forced labor stations emerged during this period. The research will be conducted through the analysis of articles and academic texts on the subject. Throughout the work, we will address the context of the Sino-Japanese Wars, the Nanjing massacre and the emergence of comfort nets, highlighting their real purpose and the atrocities committed against East Asian women. Personal accounts of victims who suffered torture, rape and various other types of violence will also be presented. Finally, the positions of the countries involved on acts of sexual violence against women will be analyzed, as well as the consequences of the acts of sexual violence that were imposed on women and their effects to this day.

This study aims to investigate how the Footwear Workers' Union of São Leopoldo (RS), between 1998 and 2000, acted in what can be described as the struggle for the rights of workers in the footwear sector. The main focus is the crisis that affected the sector, especially in the Vale dos Sinos region, leading to factory closures and mass layoffs. This research seeks to analyze the actions of the Footwear and Apparel Workers' Union of São Leopoldo and Portão, particularly in the context of this crisis, unemployment, and the pursuit of workers' rights. It aims to contextualize the subject using existing literature, including books and articles on the topic, as well as archived documents from the period, provided by the Footwear and Apparel Workers' Union of São Leopoldo and Portão. The analysis encompasses sources such as the union's newspapers and pamphlets, O Martelo, archived by the Union and the São Leopoldo Municipal Archive, in addition to historiographical dialogues, hemerographic sources, and previously published articles and theses.

The magazine was launched in May 1928 in the capital of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, under the direction of important figures in the health scene, such as Ulysses de Nonohay. The publication aimed to provide readers with education focused on basic health care and hygiene, covering topics such as childhood health, motherhood and disease treatment, thus contributing to medical practices of the period. In dialogue with the history of health and the social history of childhood, this work will discuss, through historiography, the concerns of doctors and government officials with child health in Brazil and Rio Grande do Sul in the early 1930s. , will present the Hygia Magazine, exploring general aspects of its construction and particularities of its publications. Finally, to achieve the research objective, the magazine's publications that address childhood health will be analyzed and discussed more clearly.

Makiyama, Yumi Sato
This monography aims to analyze the presence of eugenic discourse in Brazilian society in relation to the racial issue, focusing, in particular, the yellow race from the analysis of the Boletim de Eugenía in the period between 1929 and 1933, time frame of the periodical's existence. The development of racial discrimination against yellow people, in this study, of Chinese and Japanese ethnicity, went through scientific, intellectual and political discussions during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Therefore, the writing of this research was mobilized by the question of how race is socially constructed for Chinese and Japanese and how the discourse around these agents was constructed in history. For this reason, we analyze racial theories, conceived by European ideologists, that were reconfigured in light of the national reality, and which justified proposals and implementations of eugenic measures against the population. Ergo, the main analysis is related to the way in which eugenics was designed to resolve national problems that, it was understood, made the nation's progress and modernization impossible, thus contributing to bringing the history of Chinese and Japanese immigration closer to the history of medicine, studies of racial relations and the field of post-abolition.

This final paper aims to cover the life of João Benno Wendling inside the community of Walachai, located in the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul. The objective was to analyze João Benno's actions based on primary sources, such as autobiographies, writings and documentation, which he recorded and preserved throughout his life. Attention was given to various positions that João Benno occupied within the community, such as teacher, catechist and others in the religious sphere, as well as secretary of the Sociedade União Popular (also known as Volksverein), and leader of the Frente Agrária Gaúcha from Walachai. To make it possible to explore João Benno's actions within the community, the concept of intellectual mediator, developed by Angela de Castro Gomes and Patricia Santos Hansen (2016), was used. In this way, it was analyzed how João Benno Wendling's actions influenced the progress of the community's culture, from the most diverse aspects.

<title>A representação da natureza chaquenha do século XVIII na obra do missionário Florián Paucke</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13647</link>
<description>A representação da natureza chaquenha do século XVIII na obra do missionário Florián Paucke

<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13646</link>
This monograph reflects the search for a connection between my two previous formations: Communication and Marketing, and my current academic trajectory in History. Experience in the advertising market, management in companies of different sizes, and work as a national and international consultant have shaped my professional path. However, growing restlessness led me to seek a more humanistic and sustainable approach, and I found in Public History - which extends beyond academic boundaries, impacting society in various ways - this anchoring. The decision to study History was not by chance. It arose from the need to theoretically ground the new worldview and professional choice, especially regarding the relationships between history, memory, and historiography. Awareness of more sustainable management practices, such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), along with the growing demand of new generations for life purposes and conscious consumption, motivated the adherence to humanism and corporate sustainability. One of the consultancy projects, “Bahia Viaja na Bahia”, which sees Public History as the bridge to this new management path, propels this monograph. This work aims to contribute to expanding discussions on the application of Public History in new contexts, laying the foundations for more inclusive, ethical, and socially responsible projects. By reflecting on Public History as a fundamental tool for humanistic and sustainable management, I hope to pave the way in the business consulting sector and contribute to a new space, beyond academia, for historians.

<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13644</link>
Tavares, Joanna Schmidt
This study aims to analyze the trajectory of a young woman who went through two state control institutions in Rio Grande do Sul in the 1920s: São Pedro Psychiatric Hospital and the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital. Using the interned woman's name as the guiding thread of the research, her criminal case file was located in the Public Archive of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (APERS). The young woman, a minor, of mixed race, and a cook on a farm in the city of São Gabriel, is accused of committing infanticide. By cross-referencing sources between her criminal case and a medical record, this work aims to reveal how legal and psychiatric discourses shaped the judgment of the defendant. It also seeks to understand how this process helps us comprehend the constructions of gender, class, race, motherhood, femininity, and madness in Rio Grande do Sul during the First Republic. Through the analysis of the case, we conclude that legal and medical knowledge positioned women as biologically more susceptible to mental instability. These spaces of internment for the insane and criminals, especially women deviating from expected feminine behavior, served as places for the reeducation of young women.

<title>Tomadas em bom conceito: atuação de parteiras imigrantes a partir do processo-crime de Anna Frank (Santa Maria Da Boca Do Monte, século XX)</title>

<description>Tomadas em bom conceito: atuação de parteiras imigrantes a partir do processo-crime de Anna Frank (Santa Maria Da Boca Do Monte, século XX)
Paula, Evelyn Barrufe
The work in question explores the role of midwives, with a particular focus on German midwives in Santa Maria da Boca do Monte, Rio Grande do Sul. The study uses a specific criminal case from 1929 involving Anna Frank, a German midwife, and Guilherme Scheidt, a German doctor accused of professional incompetence. The overall objective of the study is to understand how these German midwives operated in a small town in Rio Grande do Sul in the first decades of the 20th century. To this end, the study sets several specific objectives, which include identifying the professional performance of immigrant midwives, as well as elements of competitiveness and solidarity. It is also relevant to examine the relationship between midwives and doctors, in a context of increasing medicalization of childbirth in cities like Santa Maria and the capital Porto Alegre. The work is contextualized in a scenario of social and professional transformations, with pressures from the press and the health system to medicalize the midwives' craft. Beyond the case of Anna Frank, the study uses bibliographies to understand how midwives adapted and resisted changes in their professions. The work also makes an effort to analyze how academic expertise began to overshadow traditional wisdom, especially with the creation of formal courses for midwives

<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13642</link>
Naibert, Diego Alves
This study aims to analyze the actions of Francisco Sanches, better known as "Paco," in a Region of Italian Colonization (RCI) in the territory of Rio Grande do Sul during the period known as the "República Velha." We will present the dynamics and developments of Paco's trajectory in an area occupied by Italian immigrants and the political connections in which this character was involved. To achieve this, we will apply Eric Hobsbawm's concept of "social bandit" and draw on bibliographic sources addressing Italian immigration and banditry in Brazil, as well as newspaper articles that sought to reconstruct the different images attributed to the subject. Our methodology draws inspiration from micro-history to recover parts of Paco's trajectory, using his name as a guide to navigate the various contexts in which the character was involved. In conclusion, we believe that Paco's trajectory was closely linked to the power structure of the Rio Grande do Sul Republican Party during the República Velha, using political maneuvering to gain benefits and, simultaneously, being used by the powerful to maintain the PRR in control of the state.

<title>A representação da natureza chaquenha do século XVIII na obra do missionário Florián Paucke</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13284</link>
<description>A representação da natureza chaquenha do século XVIII na obra do missionário Florián Paucke

<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13264</link>
Horch, Vittoria Porciuncula
Although climate change affects everyone, its impacts are not felt equally, as women are more exposed and vulnerable to these changes. The NDCs are an important tool for advancing the UNFCCC and align the efforts of parties to plan and maintain the goals they intend to achieve. The inclusion of gender in NDCs is key to holding countries accountable in translating their ambitions to gender equity and to ensuring that the progress already made is respected. The present work aimed to analyze the NDCs presented by South American countries, seeking to understand whether these documents recognize and/or have integrated gender equity in their proposals and aimed to identify whether these proposals take into account the intersectionality characteristic of Latin American decolonial feminism. The Decolonial Feminist Theory, centers its theory on debates concerning gender, race, and class identity, taking into consideration how society in the Global South has been constructed. In addition, The International Relations Feminist Theory was used as justification for the research, as the paper understands the need for more research focused on gender and the importance of women in decision-making positions. The methodology was adopted in a qualitative way based on an exploratory study with documentary and bibliographic research. In this work, reports, portfolios and discussions of the UNFCCC, COP21, in particular the Paris Agreement and the NDCs of the analyzed countries were used as sources. In addition, analyses of scholars in the area of climate change, climate justice, and gender equity were consulted for the development of the paper. Finally, this work analyzed the NDCs of the 12 South American countries, for a matter of time, and it was concluded as positive the issue of the gender approach, with only 1 country not mentioning gender and/or women. When analyzing the intersectional application, most did not apply the approach, and when they did, only gender and class were considered, not taking into account race as a gender inequality and in the application of the policies developed.

<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13263</link>
Lohmann, Milena Adrieli
The 21st century has been marked by many changes in the most diverse aspects of human life. From the popularization of radio to the invention of the Internet, advances in information technology have impacted the relationship between individuals and the way knowledge, customs, and ideas are transmitted. In this context, societies and the international system have also changed, to the point that theorists consider the emergence of an information society, or knowledge society. Emerging alongside these changes, globalization has also brought its impact, generating, among its many effects, the displacement of industries. Thus, pioneering countries in the industrial field, such as the United Kingdom, began to face a progressive reduction in this sector, which historically has been fundamental to their international insertion. It is in this context of cultural change that the creative industries emerge, as a response to the socioeconomic framework of deindustrialization. Since their rise, the creative industries have been conquering more and more space in international discussions, arousing the interest of countries and international organizations. When it comes to these industries, the case of the United Kingdom is the reference for its pioneering association of the theme to a political and economic agenda. Given this scenario, this work is presented as exploratory research with a qualitative approach, which used mainly secondary sources to present the United Kingdom's creative industries and their role in the country's international insertion since the 1990s, when the term "Creative Industries" was coined. Throughout the research, information gathered from available bibliographical sources proved the important positive effects of the creative industries on the United Kingdom's international insertion. In this sense, the creative industries collaborate with the international insertion of the United Kingdom by 1) promoting a positive image of the country; and 2) being characterized as one of the most important industrial sectors of the United Kingdom.

<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13261</link>
Alves, Kethelin Wisnieski Barretto
In recent years, the increase in available data and the greater processing capacity of computers has led to an evolution of artificial intelligence. This technology, as one of the key technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is increasingly present in our lives and is transforming the world. It is not yet known what impacts the development and use of artificial intelligence will have in the world and therefore there is an increasing amount of research on the subject. Even so, there are relatively few researches that deal with the subject in the area of International Relations, therefore, this monograph seeks to bring greater contributions to the area of International Relations. The general objective of this work, therefore, is to understand the configuration of Artificial Intelligence in the European Union, since the bloc is one of the most relevant geographic regions on the subject, due to its approach, which seeks to collectively respond to the challenges generated by Artificial Intelligence while guides its development and use for the benefit of its member states. As for the methodology used, this study is an exploratory research with a qualitative approach, as it is a relatively new topic with few studies. Through this study it is understood that artificial intelligence is a challenge for the European Union, but mainly an opportunity. The bloc is gaining advantages by guiding the development and use of artificial intelligence and becoming a world reference on the subject, showing the importance of policies that guide the development of this technology.

<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13139</link>
Few countries have changed their Nation Brand in a short period like Qatar. To better understand what motivated this turn of the State of Qatar, it is necessary to study its history from when the Ottoman Empire dominated the Arabian Peninsula, passing the events in the region until its independence and the last three rulers. The purpose of this work is to analyze the Qatari initiatives in education and sport, more specifically soccer, instruments so that the international perception was reformulated. For this, the notions of soft power Nation branding, and historical contextualization of the small Emirado will be used to understand the events that made Qatar need to improve its image before the international society. To this end, bibliographical research and news from government portals, news from the region, and media outlets specialized in football will be used as sources of information. It is expected to understand how advances in power projection with Qatar Foundation, Education City and Qatar Sports Investment interfere and contribute to the projection of soft power Qatari as a Nation branding strategy of its shaken international image. Since the well-known human rights violations and the notorious reputation of being a conservative petromonarchy have tarnished Qatar’s international image, thus clouding plans to enhance its international image.

<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13133</link>
Within the International Relations, this research addresses the main characteristics of the luxury consumer market in China, from its formation to the current molds. Seeking to answer how the Chinese luxury market is presented, this study - using qualitative research tools - was able, throughout its five chapters, to illustrate the main characteristics of the luxury market, consumption and consumer of the Asian country. Currently, consumption is seen as a differentiating factor between individuals. Consuming, for some time, is no longer simply a pragmatic act aimed at the utility of the consumed object. Nowadays, in addition to consuming a good, its meanings and symbologies are consumed as well, aiming to satisfy personal desires and achieve prestigious images among different social groups. The luxury products and services market represents the epitome of this process, signaling status and distinction to its select and restricted group of consumers. The ode to opulence and ostentation are intrinsic factors in this universe, whose existence dates back to Ancient Egypt. Currently, the luxury market is mainly controlled by big names from the western industry, who are incessantly looking for new growth opportunities around the globe. In China, brands of this segment were faced with a long-repressed demand, due to political, social and economic ideals of the Maoist Era. With the structural reforms undertaken in 1978 in the country by Deng Xiaoping, named as the "Open Door Policy" - which made China's economic opening to foreign investment possible - a process began that enabled the accumulation of individual capital in China and the creation of a Chinese capitalist class. From this, with the increase of the purchasing power of the Chinese population, luxury brands began to seek a space in this market. The Chinese, whose appreciation for luxury items dates back to the Tang and Ming imperial dynasties, were able to reconnect with their culture and, with the mass entry of Western luxury brands in the country, began to claim greater representation of the culture in the products and an increase in the participation of Chinese designers and employees in the brands. Supported by its importance for the luxury industry, given that the consumer market for luxury products and services in China is - currently - the second largest in the world, the population begins to pressure the industry and, the consequences of this phenomenon, may leverage the prestige and recognition of Chinese culture on a global level. Assiduous luxury consumers, the Chinese could, in 2025, represent 40% of the world's total luxury consumption, making it the largest consumer market for luxury goods in the world, displacing the current first place, the United States.
