<title>Effectiveness or efficiency in the evaluation of professional and technological education? A proposal for an integrated model to evaluate the institutional performance of Federal Education Institutes</title>

<description>Effectiveness or efficiency in the evaluation of professional and technological education? A proposal for an integrated model to evaluate the institutional performance of Federal Education Institutes
Gori, Rodrigo Soares Lelis
In recent decades, the assessment of technical efficiency has occupied a prominent position in performance evaluations of public educational institutions. Although relevant, this approach, when adopted in isolation, proves limited considering the operational complexity, regional diversity, and the multiple functions assigned to the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology (IFs). This study argues that institutional assessment should incorporate different analytical levels and performance dimensions to support more accurate and contextualised decision-making. The research aims to propose an integrated model for evaluating institutional performance using the Directional Distance Function (DDF), an extension of traditional Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), applied to panel data covering the period from 2017 to 2023. The first analytical strand, with an intra-institutional focus, assessed 11 teaching units of a Federal Institute. Quantitative data on human, financial, and physical resources were used, along with desirable and undesirable variables related to teaching, research, outreach, and management. The analysis adopted an input-oriented model with variable returns to scale (VRS), combining internal benchmarking, institutional segmentation, and metafrontier modelling. It revealed that unit efficiency was more closely associated with the organisation of resources than with budget volume, indicating opportunities for improvement. The institutional average efficiency during the period was 80.3%. In the second strand, an inter-institutional analysis was conducted involving all 38 Federal Institutes. A composite indicator was developed using a DDF-based model with constant returns to scale (CRS) and output orientation, eliminating resource-related heterogeneity to emphasise performance outcomes. In parallel, institutional effectiveness was assessed based on the achievement of strategic goals. Although the directional vector was fixed and unitary for all variables, its limitations in interpreting β as a proportional efficiency measure were acknowledged. The integration of efficiency and effectiveness dimensions enabled a comprehensive institutional assessment. Results indicated that 42% of the institutions performed above average in both dimensions, while 34% fell below. The proposed methodological framework enhances the diagnosis of institutional performance and offers strategic support for public education management. The main limitations relate to the absence of external benchmarking in the inter-institutional analysis and the reliance on standardised secondary data.

<title>Factory economics: economic efficiency and its conditions as a foundation for production system management</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13743</link>
<description>Factory economics: economic efficiency and its conditions as a foundation for production system management
Noal, Lúcio Cantarelli
Enhancing efficiency and productivity in organizations is a fundamental&#13;
necessity to which we are inextricably linked. While technical efficiency has been&#13;
widely studied, research on economic efficiency remains relatively scarce in&#13;
comparison. Methodologies such as Lean primarily focus on optimizing technical&#13;
efficiency in manufacturing systems. However, while technical improvements are&#13;
undeniably important, it is crucial to recognize that gains in technical efficiency do not&#13;
always translate proportionally into gains in economic efficiency. This study argues that&#13;
understanding the production system from an economic perspective is essential for&#13;
effectively applying concepts, methods, techniques, and tools in manufacturing&#13;
systems. To explore this, an design science research (DSR) was conducted, beginning&#13;
with problem identification and the establishment of a theoretical framework, followed&#13;
by the implementation of the intervention and an evaluation of its effects. The&#13;
theoretical framework was developed through a systematic literature review (SLR),&#13;
examining the relationship between Lean and efficiency in both manufacturing and&#13;
service systems. The intervention aimed to compare the application of Lean principles&#13;
and the Theory of Constraints (TOC) in synchronizing production within an automotive&#13;
assembly line. The economic results revealed that TOC synchronization was more&#13;
effective than the Lean approach, reducing total costs by 29.9%. In a subsequent&#13;
longitudinal analysis through a case study, TOC implementation led to a 66.9%&#13;
increase in economic efficiency. These findings underscore the pressing need for&#13;
further research on economic efficiency in manufacturing systems. The primary&#13;
limitation of this study is that the research was conducted on a single case and was&#13;
not applied across multiple manufacturing systems.

<title>Fatores determinantes do sentimento de bem-estar de turistas em relação a um destino turístico de natureza</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13742</link>
<description>Fatores determinantes do sentimento de bem-estar de turistas em relação a um destino turístico de natureza
Aires, Janaina Maria Andrade
Nature-based tourism has become a growing segment around the world, because it&#13;
plays a vital role in improving the quality of life and well-being of tourists. Therefore,&#13;
the objective of this study was to propose and validate a Theoretical Model, testing&#13;
factors determining tourists’ feelings of well-being in relation to a natural tourist&#13;
destination, which included the constructs tourist destination image, tourist ecological&#13;
awareness, service quality, tourist satisfaction and word of mouth communication, as&#13;
well as analyzing the moderating effect of tourist engagement on the relationship&#13;
between their satisfaction and their feeling of well-being with the tourist destination.&#13;
To this end, the research was operationalized through a survey with a sample of 339&#13;
tourists who visited the Jalapão region, the main nature tourist destination in the&#13;
State of Tocantins (TO). As a procedure for data analysis, multivariate data analysis&#13;
was used, using the Structural Equation Modeling technique. The results of the study&#13;
show a strong explanatory power of the proposed Theoretical Model (R2 = 0.997), in&#13;
addition to indicating that the investigated constructs are, in fact, determinants of&#13;
tourists' feeling of well-being with the investigated nature destination. The findings&#13;
contain important information and implications for tourism theory and practice, which&#13;
can contribute to the development of more assertive products and/or services or to&#13;
the creation of meaningful experiences for tourists, thus generating greater&#13;
satisfaction and initiatives positive word-of-mouth communication mainly by means&#13;
high tourist engagement.

<title>ChatHans: sistema de pré-diagnóstico da hanseníase</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13741</link>
<description>ChatHans: sistema de pré-diagnóstico da hanseníase
Oliveira, Ivo Sócrates Moraes de
Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease that, when not diagnosed early, can lead to permanent physical disabilities. In Brazil, early diagnosis still represents a challenge, especially in areas that are difficult to access and have limited health infrastructure. In this context, this research proposes the development of ChatHans, a hybrid Chatbot to assist in the pre-diagnosis and suspicion of Leprosy, using the Leprosy Suspicion Questionnaire (QSH), tools based on artificial intelligence and natural language processing. The methodological approach adopted follows Design Science Research (DSR), combining machine learning techniques, computational modeling, and qualitative analysis with health professionals. Initially, experts were interviewed to gather requirements based on the QSH and the guidelines of the Brazilian Ministry of Health. From this data, a hybrid Chatbot was structured with three main functionalities: (i) "Assess Leprosy Risk", applying the QSH to estimate the suspicion of the disease; (ii) "Clearing Doubts", providing information about the disease and its treatment; and (iii) "Testing Skin Sensitivity", helping users perform basic tests of thermal and pain sensitivity. The system was implemented using the Blip platform, integrating with DialogFlow for natural language understanding, with a Web interface (Chat-Blip) and Telegram. A scoring model was developed to assign risk levels based on users’ responses to the QSH, reinforcing suspected cases for referral to health services. The results demonstrate that the Chatbot can be an interesting tool in active leprosy screening, automating such a process. Usability tests indicated a high acceptance rate, in which the average score of the experience with the proposed system was 8.6 (between 0 and 10), with a low standard deviation of 1.04, with the sample scope accounting for 92 participants. However, challenges related to the complexity&#13;
of some interactions were also identified. Furthermore, the analysis of the Chatbot interactions showed that most users can complete the risk assessment without difficulty, indicating the system’s viability for practical application. The originality of this research lies in applying hybrid Chatbots in the screening of Leprosy, one of the neglected diseases that affect millions of people worldwide, combining rule-based approaches and artificial intelligence to optimize the pre-diagnosis process and clarify doubts about the pathology. Unlike other tools, such as applications to support clinical diagnosis, ChatHans seeks to actively engage the user in the self-assessment of symptoms and facilitate referral to the health system. This research also offers a new scoring metric for the Leprosy suspicion questionnaire that considers statistical criteria for confirming cases presented in other studies, indicating three levels based on percentiles and sample variance of the studies that apply this instrument.

<description>Direcionamentos propostos para a redução do desperdício de alimentos no contexto de instituições públicas hospitalares no Estado do Tocantins
Santos, Adão Pinto dos
This study presents a set of proposed guidelines to reduce food waste in public&#13;
hospitals located in the State of Tocantins (TO). Food waste is seen as a crucial&#13;
indicator for the environmental and economic-financial sustainability of these&#13;
hospitals, since it is related to the resources used in the production of food that is not&#13;
consumed and is discarded as food waste. The four hospitals investigated were&#13;
selected due to their importance to the regional health system in which they are&#13;
inserted, in addition to being the largest public hospitals in the State of TO. The&#13;
research was operationalized through individual interviews with a semi-structured&#13;
approach. The data were analyzed by means content analysis with the aid of a&#13;
qualitative data analysis software, Sphinx iQ2. It is worth highlighting that the&#13;
proposed guidelines were focused on three dimensions: people, technology and&#13;
processes. The training and awareness of the professionals involved, through regular&#13;
training, are essential, while technology and innovation can be integrated into the&#13;
food management systems of the hospitals investigated. However, some practices&#13;
can be discussed, such as the importance of partnerships and collaboration with&#13;
suppliers and food waste. As for the process, it is necessary to manage the&#13;
performance of suppliers in relation to the quality of food or ready meals delivered&#13;
and their involvement in demand forecasting, in a more assertive way, to avoid food&#13;
waste and the respective food waste.

<title>Plataformas digitais: o impacto da governança na captura de valor pelos complementadores</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13448</link>
<description>Plataformas digitais: o impacto da governança na captura de valor pelos complementadores
Silva, Nubia Adriane da
Digital platforms have emerged as predominant organizational structures in various sectors, promoting innovative ecosystems that integrate actors, architecture and governance. Although the literature on platform governance has grown significantly, most approaches focus on the perspective of the platforms themselves. To enrich this field of study from a new perspective, this research seeks to understand the relationship between the governance mechanisms used by digital platforms and the capture of value by their complementors. To achieve this objective, the research was conducted using a qualitative approach, employing field research. Initially, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was carried out on platform governance. From this review, a conceptual framework emerged with three dimensions for the governance structure: (i) coordination (value and control); (ii) design (architecture, access, leadership structure and decision-making); and (iii) value creation mechanisms (resource management, understanding of functions and exclusivity relationships). This framework served as the basis for collecting data on the platforms and their complementors. The research focused on the food service sector. To analyze the&#13;
platforms, documents related to governance were taken into account, available on the&#13;
websites and apps of these companies, as well as secondary data from reports and&#13;
other publications. To understand the complementors' perspective, representatives of&#13;
54 companies that transact their food products and services on digital platforms were&#13;
interviewed. The results showed that governance standards applied uniformly to all actors have a significant impact on the development of complementors' activities, directly influencing their capacity for interaction and innovation and, consequently, value capture. The contributions of this thesis include the proposition of a conceptual governance framework that can deepen understanding of any type of platform and facilitate comparisons between different platforms, as well as providing the complementors' perspective on how governance impacts value capture.

<title>How to identify the strategic alignment of teams with respect to project timeframe: a belief system approach for project-based alliances</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/13447</link>
<description>How to identify the strategic alignment of teams with respect to project timeframe: a belief system approach for project-based alliances
Piccoli, Marcella Soares
This research explores the complex and dynamic world of Project-Based Alliances in the construction industry, unveiling a revolutionary artefact rooted in Robert Simons' Levels of Control, with a special focus on the Belief System to drive strategic team alignment. This qualitative study offers a unique perspective, delving into the intricate interplay between organisational beliefs and project timeframes, and their profound impact on long-term project success. This research stands out by deeply analysing three diverse, globally-spanning projects, showcasing the universal applicability and transformative potential of&#13;
strategic alignment. The insights gathered reveal that aligning organisational beliefs with team strategies significantly offsets the benefits of diverse team compositions or geographic considerations in ensuring project success. Intriguingly, we highlight a&#13;
prevalent industry oversight—prioritising short-term goals at the expense of long-term&#13;
strategic alignment, thus uncovering a critical area for improvement. Utilising the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology, we developed and validated our artefact through iterative cycles of design, evaluation, and refinement. This approach ensured the practical relevance and rigour of the artefact, which was tested in real-world settings to assess its effectiveness in enhancing team alignment and project outcomes. The study not only bridges the gap between theory and practice but also introduces an innovative framework for continuous assessment and enhancement of team dynamics. By focusing on belief systems, we provide organisations with a powerful tool to navigate the complexities of temporary alliances, ensuring shared understanding and strategic vision alignment throughout all project stages. Future research should explore the impact of technological advancements and cultural diversity on team alignment within Project-Based Alliances. Social implications of this research include fostering a collaborative culture, promoting ethical practices, and supporting sustainable development in the construction industry.

<description>Ecossistemas de inovação : uma análise da integração e funcionamento a partir do design organizacional
Librelato, Tatiane Pereira
In the innovation ecosystem context, Technology Transfer Organizations (TTOs) are considered important players. It is through their organizational design that the interests and actions of the different players are synergistically articulated. Each TTO defines its own organizational design, which requires a different structure from that of the organizations it supports. At the same time, the innovation ecosystem has an organizational design, aimed at establishing a common vision, articulating the strategic objectives of the innovation ecosystem and its partners, as well as indicating the&#13;
direction of actions to achieve these objectives. In this way, this research aimed to analyze how interactions occur in the organizational design of TTOs in relation to the contextual demands of a young innovation ecosystem. In order to meet the proposed objective, a single, exploratory and qualitative case study was carried out, with multiple units of analysis. Propositions relating to governance, indicators, processes, structure, alignment and connections were tested. The results revealed the existing connections between the innovation ecosystem, universities and technology transfer organizations. The combination of domain activities, structural dimensions and elements of the Star Model made it possible to identify and critically evaluate the organizational design of the TTOs in focus in the innovation ecosystem, as well as to assess the relationships between the (re)organizational design of the TTOs and the ecosystem.

<description>Evaluating efficiency in Project management offices: a longitudinal evaluation using data envelopment analysis
Coelho, Marilia Botelho
A project is a temporary effort to create a unique product, service or result. Due to their temporary nature, they have a life cycle made up of six processes: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control and closure. Thus, they combine a set of desirable results and organizational resources throughout each process, using an approach structured in metrics and standards with the aim of meeting the demands and opportunities of organizations. Projects represent a way of keeping companies growing and competitive in a scenario of increasing change and technological demands. As a result, more and more organizations are investing in projects as a way of increasing their results and becoming competitive in the market. Project Management Offices are part of this context with a central responsibility for efficient management within organizations, being the central point of support for outlining metrics and standards that meet the business strategy. The PMO is a structure in the organization that is established in order to standardize how projects are managed and to ensure efficiencies by generating best practices from the delivery of a project portfolio. PMOs can be defined as a governance structure for organizational Project Management and many project-oriented companies are implementing a PMO. One of the indicators used in a company's PMO is the success of projects after they have been closed, thus assessing the effectiveness of the project. This strategy only looks at a few projects in the portfolio, with cost and maturity characteristics. Project maturity is reflected in the FEL methodology. The company uses this methodology to advance gates and thus evolve the maturity of the project scope over time and life cycle.

Mining has played a pivotal role in the construction of the roads that led the world's major&#13;
powers to economic development. Simultaneously, coal has served as the engine driving this progress, providing an economical, efficient, and reliable source of energy. However, this achievement has also brought with it a significant environmental and social impact, affecting both the environment and society. The pursuit of sustainable development now occupies the center stage of international agreements as the world seeks solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change on societies without resulting in economic stagnation for countries. This duality between economic and environmental aspects is not exclusive to the international stage; it is also reflected in the economic policies of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, especially in the city of Candiota, the primary coal reserve in Brazil. In this context, this research aims to propose comprehensive sustainability governance guidelines that holistically address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a means to promote a responsible agenda and secure the Social License to Operate (LSO). The local community represents the most significant stakeholder in the system, with its outcomes measured through Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) indicators. The use of Systems Thinking, through systemic transcription, was crucial in understanding the complex relationships between the various concepts investigated and in analyzing the recorded discourses of the identified stakeholders during data collection. The chosen research method for this study was Design Science Research (DSR), which contributed to a significant sequence of insights throughout the process and the construction of a comprehensive framework of knowledge. The result was the development of a model with eight systematically structured drivers aimed at promoting corporate governance in the pursuit of sustainability while contributing to practical outcomes, including efficient resource use, rehabilitation of impacted areas, social responsibility, assistance actions, workforce training and qualification, and behavior standards. The driver model was approved by experts, ensuring its validity and concluding that sustainability can be achieved more effectively through the adoption of responsible and efficient practices, including effective resource utilization, rehabilitation of impacted areas, social responsibility, and behavioral norms.

The demand for clean energy and sustainability has increased around the world, mainly as a way to combat the effects of global warming. In the Paris agreement in 2015, Brazil committed to reducing carbon emissions and including more biofuels in the country's energy matrix. In this context, corn ethanol has been attracting investments, especially in the Central-West region of Brazil, thus giving rise to a greater number of corn plants and their by-products, resulting from the extraction of corn ethanol. The objective of this thesis is to propose recommendations to improve applications of sustainable practices for corn ethanol plants. The method is a multiple case study with 8 units of analysis. The research presents, as its main contribution, a set of guidelines for environmental practice actions and a framework with a proposal to guide corn ethanol producing plants in Brazil, discussing elements, strategies and practices that guide the plants' daily lives, in a integrated with the environmental, economic and social areas, it is a multiple case study. The results confirm that large plants use sustainable practices in their processes, practice a circular economy, creating new by-products and becoming more eco-efficient. They also confirm that they invest in technology such as Machine Learning and industry 4.0 and have partnerships with enzyme suppliers, develop projects and create new products to remain competitive in the market and sustainable, in addition to the fact that large plants have greater purchasing power to invest in certifications, They have qualified teams and invest in the acquisition of wagons and locomotives with the intention of reducing CO2 emissions in the distribution of their products to the consumer. The study brought academic contributions in order to overcome the lack of empirical information on how the environmental practices adopted by the plants are happening, highlighting positive results in the pillars of sustainability. As a managerial contribution, a set of action guidelines and the proposed framework can help managers improve environmental practices, as well as meet the objectives for sustainable development proposed in the 2030 Agenda in the United Nations. Limitations of the study and suggestions for future research were also identified.

The objective of this study is to propose a set of guiding elements to innovate and incorporate sustainability into the business model of biobusiness companies, focused on non-timber forest products. Changes made to the business model of an enterprise in the field of biobusiness, with a non-timber forest base in the Amazon Forest, certified by laboratory B, which achieved a positive social impact by making a profit through the practice of the common good, were analyzed. Therefore, it was studied how innovation in the company's business model was oriented towards sustainability and positively interfered in the company's production chain. A case study was carried out in the largest producer of babassu coconut activated charcoal in Latin America for industrial use. This company is a B Corp (Benefit Corporation or B Corp). The gains and benefits for all stakeholders impacted by the innovation in the business model were analyzed. The study's main contributions are: (i) to propose a set of guiding elements to innovate and incorporate sustainability into the business model of biobusiness companies, focused on non-timber forest products; (ii) to describe how the innovation of the business model focused on sustainability occurs in a company in the field of biobusiness; (iii) to analyze the barriers and drivers of technological innovations for the preservation of traditions and the environment; and (iv) to study a little-explored object like a B Corp in the Amazon Rainforest. In this way, this study contributes to the literature on valuing shares in the economic aspect with equal relevance to the sustainable value captured by stakeholders to guarantee the continuity of the positive socio-environmental impact achieved by the company. New advances are expected from the perception of traditional communities, such as indigenous and coconut breakers, dependent on the forest, to implement partnerships with mutual interest based on technological innovations, the practice of sustainability and economic gain.

<title>A mitigação do desperdício de hortifrutícolas nos pequenos e médios centros de abastecimento: estudo de caso no município de Imperatriz - MA</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/12631</link>
<description>A mitigação do desperdício de hortifrutícolas nos pequenos e médios centros de abastecimento: estudo de caso no município de Imperatriz - MA
Sales, Francisco Carlos Vaz
Regarding both food security and environmental issues, food waste constitutes a serious global problem that requires concerted action from all stakeholders in the Food Supply Chain (FSC). Losses occur from agricultural producers to consumers, throughout the entire food supply chain. The case is that Fruits and Vegetables (F&amp;V) are sensitive products subject to various adverse factors that pose risks of both microbiological deterioration and mechanical damage throughout the food supply chain. The problem is that the FSC is structured as a complex network polarized by producers, distributors, retailers, and consumers, with distributors, despite being less visible, playing a crucial role in the smooth functioning of this market. In the municipality of Imperatriz - MA, distributors, who have a significant role in both the local and regional economy, have been a scene of considerable food waste attributed to deficiencies in both production and supply, including more complex causes in transportation and distribution. The seriousness of the problem requires studies aimed at assessing the losses and formulating guidelines to mitigate them. Thus, this study proposed the following questions: 1) What causes waste in the distribution of fruits and vegetables? 2) How to mitigate food waste in regional distribution of F&amp;V? The unfolding of this issue aimed to achieve the following objectives: a) investigate qualitative losses (more difficult to determine) and their impact on demand; b) diagnose the main causes of losses; c) evaluate the modus operandi and cost of discarding these losses; d) identify preventive and mitigating procedures adopted and potential innovations. In order to establish a knowledge base for the proposed issue, preliminary information was gathered through a literature review. In a second stage, on-site visits were conducted to apply a questionnaire to a sample of the researched population. The study reveals the precariousness of the horticultural supply chain in Imperatriz - MA. The majority of products come from other states, indicating a near total lack of local participation. It is necessary to create a corresponding supply to meet the demand, streamline the supply chain, improve quality, reduce costs, and make the products accessible to the low-income population. Despite the challenges, implementing remedial measures can encourage the development of the horticultural agribusiness, stimulate the market, and benefit all those involved in the production, distribution, and commercialization of these products in the municipality.

<description>Proposição de conjunto de diretrizes para mitigar barreiras e dificuldades na implantação do e-commerce no pequeno e médio varejista
Nogueira, Edithe Oliveira
This research has the general objective proposing a set of guidelines to mitigate the barriers and difficulties in the implementation and operations of e-commerce in small and medium retailers. The accelerated growth of electronic commerce, also known as e-commerce, has become an important competitive advantage for companies, translating into a new alternative for people to make their purchases on websites quickly and easily. With the growth of the use of electronic commerce in the world, the problems faced with this new commercial modality also grow. This research exposes the challenges regarding e-commerce, and the main difficulties and internal and external barriers encountered by customers using this tool in the e-commerce network. This research is exploratory and qualitatively described, with field research interpreted by content analysis, using interviews with managers and companies that operate with a technological platform in the e-commerce modality. It is considered that, with the high growth of this type of commerce on the internet, the need for organizations to plan an adequate model that supports the entire system also grows, since there is a large number of companies that adhere to the e-commerce system.

<title>Modelos de negócios para a sustentabilidade: elementos norteadores oriundos das práticas de B Corps de manufatura</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/12178</link>
<description>Modelos de negócios para a sustentabilidade: elementos norteadores oriundos das práticas de B Corps de manufatura
Kirst, Ronald Weber
Sustainable business models draw on economic, social and environmental&#13;
aspects in defining an organization’s value proposition, taking into account the needs&#13;
of all stakeholders, not only the shareholders. By doing that, organizations may&#13;
generate positive impacts to the environment and society, while obtaining competitive&#13;
advantage. B Corp certification, originated in the criteria established by B Lab and&#13;
aligned with to the Sustainable Development Goals, is one of the means that&#13;
organizations use to validate its efforts towards this goal. Organizations that obtain B&#13;
certification are known as B Corps. This thesis’ objective is to analyze the&#13;
sustainable business model of Brazilian manufacturing B Corps, proposing guidelines&#13;
to improve the implementation of a sustainable business model in other organizations&#13;
that aim to follow this path. For that, it used the systematic literature review and the&#13;
multiple case study methods. The thesis presents two articles. The first one presents&#13;
a systematic literature review related to B Corps management. It identifies two&#13;
distinct publication periods and four thematic groups: Legal model and governance,&#13;
Entrepreneurial journey, External environment and Performance. The second article&#13;
presents the development of an analysis framework, based on the scientific literature&#13;
concerning sustainable business models, and its application in a multiple case study&#13;
with fourteen Brazilian manufacturing B Corps. The framework has seven dimensions&#13;
(Mission, Value proposition, Value creation and deliver, Value capture, Performance&#13;
measurement, Governance and Relation with the ecosystem) that guide the analysis&#13;
of the sustainable business model implementation in the selected organizations.&#13;
From this analysis, it proposes eleven guidelines to the implementation of&#13;
sustainable business models in organizations that aim to follow this path.

<title>Beyond efficacy in the evaluation of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS): a perspective based on efficiency analysis</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/12177</link>
<description>Beyond efficacy in the evaluation of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS): a perspective based on efficiency analysis
Gomes, Rodrigo Frank de Souza
Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS) play a fundamental&#13;
role within organizations. According to the International Labor Organization (ILO,&#13;
2020), despite greater attention to the issue by governments and companies, the&#13;
quantity of work-related accidents and illnesses, as well as their respective economic&#13;
impact, remain significant. Technical, behavioral, and economic aspects are affected&#13;
by the performance of these systems and, consequently, the general result of&#13;
organizations. In this context, the performance evaluation of the OHSMS represents&#13;
an important mechanism for reviewing the implemented measures concerning the&#13;
results obtained. However, this field of study has been neglected as conceptual&#13;
divergences are frequently observed in the proposed assessment instruments,&#13;
compromising the quality of the analysis of the results. Furthermore, organizations&#13;
evaluate the performance of the OHSMS predominantly through its efficacy (i.e.&#13;
achievement of objectives previously defined), without taking into account the&#13;
resources used, and without evaluating the impact of each initiative concerning the&#13;
results obtained. Therefore, we defend the thesis that the performance of OHSMS&#13;
should be complementarily evaluated through the analysis of efficiency, and that the&#13;
Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) can contribute to this objective. This research&#13;
follows the paper-based thesis (PBT) model and has as its primary objective the&#13;
evaluation of the efficiency of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems&#13;
(OHSMS) using DEA. The study contributes to filling theoretical gaps about the&#13;
conceptual accuracy of performance measures used in the OHSMS literature,&#13;
proposing a conceptual basis for this field of study. In addition, the proposed model&#13;
directly contributes to greater assertiveness in decision-making by organizations, by&#13;
aggregating the technical efficiency and the efficacy on the evaluation of the OHSMS.&#13;
The main limitations of the study are the lack of application of the model in external&#13;
benchmarking and the fact that the data used come from a single case.

<title>A intercooperação como princípio para criação de uma plataforma digital no sistema cooperativo agropecuário do Rio Grande do Sul</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/12046</link>
<description>A intercooperação como princípio para criação de uma plataforma digital no sistema cooperativo agropecuário do Rio Grande do Sul
Dawson Junior, Guillermo Enrique
The context of the development of the thesis is linked with the competitive&#13;
environment of agribusinesses in Brazil and the world, the actions of companies&#13;
operating in this industry, and the role of digital platforms. An existing gap was&#13;
noticed in terms of consistent initiatives on the part of the Cooperatives that operate&#13;
in this industry. This work used the principle of cooperation among cooperatives to&#13;
create a digital platform with cooperatives associated with the Federation of&#13;
Agricultural Cooperatives of Rio Grande do Sul – FecoAgro/RS. The research&#13;
adopted the action research method. The operationalisation of the method led to the&#13;
creation of four specific, consecutive, and interrelated cycles. The first cycle aimed to&#13;
generate a strategic alignment of thirty cooperatives towards the realisation of an&#13;
inter-cooperation project, adhering to an environment characterised by the need to&#13;
generate digital innovations. In this cycle, the collective prioritisation of the strategic&#13;
objectives was made, considering the possible relational rents resulting from intercooperation. In cycle two, the project's governance structure was conceived and built.&#13;
Additionally, three projects were elaborated adopting the notion of Minimum Viable&#13;
Product (MVP). In cycle three, the digital platform was built by a specialised software&#13;
house, bringing together the three MVPs. Finally, the fourth cycle dealt with the&#13;
instantiation of the platform through its diffusion and its use in a real environment.&#13;
The construction of the platform considered the possibility of relational rents and the&#13;
adoption of concepts used by platform cooperativism. One year after the launch of&#13;
the platform, it had more than 5,000 active users, including technicians and&#13;
associated producers, and an area corresponding to 800,000 hectares already&#13;
inserted and mapped onto the platform. Furthermore, the platform created,&#13;
exchanging and combining scarce and complementary knowledge from various&#13;
actors, became a unique product, difficult to imitate, and can be considered a&#13;
sustainable competitive advantage for cooperatives linked to FecoAgro/RS.

his work analyzes the development of products for the base of the pyramid (CMFP).&#13;
The findings of this analysis were then characterized into constructs. These constructs&#13;
guided the proposition of a set of guidelines intended to guide researchers and industry&#13;
professionals in relation to improving the development of products for the&#13;
aforementioned layer of the population. The analysis of these guidelines revealed that&#13;
the learning gained in the development of products for the ToP helps to reduce the&#13;
development costs for the CMFP. Reducing costs and adapting to consumer demands&#13;
makes it possible to meet the demands of the CMFP global markets. This work&#13;
contributes to a new approach to enable the sale of modified products to different&#13;
markets. Learning from the development of products for ToP indicates an increase in&#13;
the efficiency of the production process, which is not total. In some segments,&#13;
industries transfer technologies and innovations developed for ToP incrementally to&#13;
CMFP. Another finding was that the CMFP approach demands consideration of social&#13;
aspects in different regions, monitoring of economic factors, performance&#13;
management, responsiveness and information sharing along the chain.

<title>Framework gerencial de transição em operações Hospitalares</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/11904</link>
<description>Framework gerencial de transição em operações Hospitalares
Souza, Davenilcio Luiz de
Purpose: The growing complexity in production and service systems determined the fourth&#13;
industrial revolution. A new dynamic of human relations is presented in Cyber-Physical&#13;
systems through digitalization. The fusion of digital technologies and the interaction&#13;
in the physical, digital and biological domains based on the enabling technologies of&#13;
Industry 4.0 / Health 4.0, such as genomics, wearable devices, and sensors for health&#13;
monitoring that drive success in medicine. The sustainability of the care business encourages innovation in managing health operations. In this scenario, the research aims&#13;
to propose a transition managerial Framework in Hospital operations. This transition&#13;
means migrating from a conventional model to a dynamic model of continuous evolution&#13;
where the profitable and sustainable management of the hospital operation prevails.&#13;
Design/methodology/approach: A systematic literature review on Hospital Operations Management promoted awareness of the problem. Three approaches in hospital management models were classified: i) Value-based, ii) Process-based, and iii) Mixed base, a mix of the previous approaches. The research objective achievement, an artifact based on Design Science Research (DSR), is proposed. It aims to develop the Framework where it lists the process and means that provide the transition of Hospital Operations Management through the Drivers: “Continuous Improvement” supported by the Lean Six Sigma and the “Differentiation” supported by technological innovation. The Drivers are driven by the knowledge assets of multidisciplinary teams, guided by good HR and Governance practices. The Framework is formed by three dimensions “People, Technologies and Processes”, with the enabling technologies of Industry 4.0 / Health 4.0 and the development of the continuous improvement process by the Value Stream Mapping (VSM), allied to the Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing (TDABC) to implement the mapping of the costing of the clinical conditions attended in the Hospital Unit.&#13;
Findings: Model of a Continuous Improvement Project, established in the proposed Framework based on the priorities of the Hospital unit. A Project conducted by multidisciplinary teams trained in the principles of Lean Six Sigma and the associated Industry 4.0 / Health 4.0 enabling technologies. The Continuous Improvement project aims to ensure Innovation in Management by the possible succession and improvement of projects conducted by the Operation Managers in the Hospital unit. The project follows the steps of VSM/TDABC mappings of the Clinical Conditions seen in the hospital unit. It aims&#13;
to establish a reliable costing standard for the manager’s decision. Finally, evaluated by&#13;
Experts in Hospital Operations Management, the validation of the submitted Continuous&#13;
Improvement Project Model and Framework took place. Originality/value: Among the researched publications, there is no reference to transition in hospital operations management. The theme presents relevance in the healthcare industry; the academic research in this field raises the need for Innovation in management models. Complementing an Innovative Hospital Management model by the dynamics of&#13;
the science of improvement is vital to boost competitive advantages, create and maintain&#13;
value for everyone involved in the care process.

This thesis analyzes how supermarkets and distributors can reduce food waste,&#13;
specifically produce, by implementing marketing actions allied to digital technologies,&#13;
Big Data Things, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and the Internet of&#13;
technologies. Currently, little is known about the potential role of digital technologies in&#13;
promoting the sustainability of supermarket chains in emerging economies. Thus,&#13;
qualitative research was carried out on operating supermarkets and six distributors,&#13;
which has not been carried out in qualitative research in Brazil. The results show that&#13;
actions to reduce the number of food starters with an understanding of hortifrúti&#13;
numbers. Through this understanding, a series of actions can be taken to reduce the&#13;
effects of this opinion. This (between) the management of pricing, sales, operations,&#13;
and operations can be underpinned by technologies such as augmented reality,&#13;
including handling devices, storage, and display of items. Marketing initiatives&#13;
simultaneously demonstrate how marketing departments can help a corporate society&#13;
and supermarkets can help to be social.

The generation of electricity through renewable sources has been relevant to meet population growth worldwide. Thus, the type of energy from the photovoltaic solar system is one of the most applied at the moment, especially in countries with a tropical climate, as is the case in Brazil. However, it is observed that a large number of inhabitants, located in rural and even remote areas in relation to large urban centers, do not have an electricity supply due to variable issues, such as access and distance from generating sources located in the load centers. Therefore, the present work aims to propose more efficient consumer facility configurations, which use the photovoltaic system with independent or shared electricity generation, disconnection to the concessionaire’s network, also called off-grid, using the Design Construtal Method. Moreover, it aims at the projection and evolution of connection this network system of distribution of electric energy, applying iterations with Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). As a result, it is identified that it is possible to share the infrastructure share of power generation sources of up to 16 supplies, in a planned evolution projection of design. In analysis of the RNAs, the result showed an average obtained of 4.39 supplies connected to an electric power generating source, it was observed that 25% of the iterations presented results of average3.22 deliveries, 25% presented an average of 4.89 deliveries, in this same condition.

Knak, Simone Santos
Industry 4.0 (I4.0) is a new paradigm for production systems, which has been stirring the discussions on companies' decision-making. Companies understand that they need to act, and there are needs on their part when it comes to making quick and assertive decisions about investments, taking into account the national context in which they operate and the way they plan to compete.Thus, there is a need for the companies' business strategy to be aligned to the production function mechanism and, consequently, to the need for investments in new existing technologies. In this context, uncertainties arise in decision making regarding the implementation and prioritization of I4.0 technologies. In this direction, the objective of this thesis is to propose a theoretical framework for prioritizing the implementation of I4.0 technologies based on the company's production strategy to generate value.To this end, Design Science Research is used with the intention of in order conducting the research. In order to meet the objectives of this research, a systematic review of the literature, bibliometrics, and bibliographic review were carried out, a moment that originated the V0 of the artifact.This review generated an interview in which 63 I4.0 and innovation specialists validated the I4.0 technologies and competitive criteria, which culminated in the V1 of the artifact. In order to add more rigor to the research, the results were submitted to ANOVA analysis of variance and Bonferroni test (intra and inter-group variation), which generated versions V2 and V3.The tests were performed in the software version SPSS.21.1,and with V3 the artifact was submitted to the focus group of experts and to the company that was the object of the case study for validation. The case study validation was done by three UENs (Brazil, United States and Germany), and the result was satisfactory, since the three units would use the framework to guide the I4.0 investment plan discussions. It was concluded that, to consider the numerous technologies of I4.0 and the costs of these investments, companies need instruments that help them make more assertive investment decisions and reduce uncertainties. It becomes necessary, therefore, to analyze the context in which they are inserted, updating as to the I4.0 technologies, because it is not a matter of deploying technology but rather understanding the convergence benefits and the integration that they can offer. With the proposed framework, it is possible to align the operations strategies to the most relevant competitive criteria for their customers with potential value creation.

<title>Sistemática de planejamento para a adoção de tecnologias no contexto da indústria 4.0</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/11334</link>
<description>Sistemática de planejamento para a adoção de tecnologias no contexto da indústria 4.0
Zvirtes, Leandro
The adoption of Industry 4.0 solutions has been widely studied in industry and academia. However, little is known about strategies to improve the connection between planning and implementation in order to mitigate the risks associated with the adoption of these new technologies. This Thesis focused its investigation on the planning process for the adoption of Industry 4.0 and its main objective is to propose a systematic for the adoption of technologies in the context of Industry 4.0. An exploratory qualitative research was conducted by collecting data from professionals who are directly involved in the process of adopting or managing technologies in the context of Industry 4.0 and working in manufacturing companies that adopt or use technologies in an emerging country (Brazil). The research findings provided the development of a seven-step systematic to improve the planning for the adoption of technologies in the context of industry 4.0 and that can contribute to improve the decision-making of companies at a tactical and strategic level in the adoption of these technologies, providing the rationalization of resources and investments. These steps start with the improvement of internal knowledge and with the selection of problems that Industry 4.0 technologies could solve, continue with the definition of the desired maturity and the elaboration of the pilot plan. Then, the alignment of the pilot plan with the company's strategy, implementation and evaluation. The proposed system is new in the existing literature. In addition to the systematic with the sequencing of steps, a set of propositions are also presented that, in addition to contributing to make decision-making more assertive by companies that are in the process of adopting or using technologies in the context of Industry 4.0, can also lead to new research and future studies. This Thesis also contributes to professionals in the sector by serving as a roadmap for the implementation of industry 4.0 initiatives, providing a better understanding of the difficulties imposed by barriers and making the choice of mitigating actions more assertive.

<description>Requisitos, barreiras e lacunas para a redução do desperdício de alimentos no elo indústria-supermercados
Trento, Luiz Reni
The study investigates perishable food waste in the industry-supermarket link of the supply chain. Exploratory qualitative research was conducted by collecting data from regional managers, shop managers and supervisors of supermarkets and their suppliers. Secondary data was also considered. Such exploratory research investigates how to reduce about 1/4 of the potential disposal of perishable processed food. The results reveal that waste reduction affects both investigated organizations, which try to transfer the problem to another link in the chain. Depending on the remaining shelf life of the item, wastage can be increased. The mitigation of this problem demands cooperation between supermarkets and suppliers. Such cooperation includes reviews in the actions of both parties to leverage the redirection and sale of the remaining items. However, the lack of systemic vision from both groups of organizations can hinder cooperation between the parties. In many cases, this lack of vision hinders the application of mitigating actions (given the remaining useful life of the product). The research contributes by indicating the elements that can leverage cooperation between the parties, as well as the elements that can broaden the systemic vision of the chain partners. Future studies could investigate how to enhance this cooperation, as well as the systemic vision of the partners.

Short life produtcts retailing presents extra challenges when compared to retailing of non-perishable goods. Since these have a finite shelflife, all inventory must be sold until the product reaches its expiration date, when occour total or partial market value loss. In this context, retailers face the challenge of pricing their products, since high prices can generate losses due to obsolete inventory and low prices can reduce the revenue and consequently the company’s profit. Using tools that allow dynamic pricing of products based on the characteristics of their demand and their consumers can provide a competitive advantage to retail companies. The high volume of data needed and the complexity of this operation sometimes make its application unfeasible, but the advancement of technology and computational techniques can help retailers in this task. Among the techniques that can help this task is the machine learning algorithms. To solve this problem, a computational artifact was proposed combining the use of artificial neural networks for demand forecasting, a model for solving the newsvendor problem for sizing the inventory needed to meet the projected demand and a pricing model for markdown prices throughout the sales period, with the objective of maximizing the profit while minimizing losses due to excess inventory at the end of the sales season. The constructed artifact allowed the dynamic pricing practice from two propositions perspective, spaced discrete markdowns along the sales season for application in situations which the retailer deals with short-sighted customers and another of continuous markdowns following a costumer perceived value degeneration curve for situations which retailer deals with strategic behavior customers. In addition, the results indicate that its use can bring benefits to the sales campaigns planning, allowing more agility and precision in pricing.

<description>Proposição de um conjunto de diretrizes para orientar a transição do modelo linear de produção para o modelo circular em empresas de manufatura no Brasil
Bacovis, Márcia Maria Costa
The circular economy (CE) is a smart choice in relation to the traditional production system (extraction, manufacturing, use and disposal), according to the objectives of the production cycles and the industrial ecosystem, aiming to reduce and eliminate material waste. The term and concepts CE are new in academia, especially in Brazil, with the main appearance of research since 2010. This research raised a set of sustainable practices and strategies currently developed in companies, which were integrated into a model five-dimensional conceptual framework for CE as follows: Product Design and Development, Process Design, Circular Flow and Business Model, Transition Enablers. The model has been validated in five high-level manufacturing companies. The research was carried out using exploratory methods with qualitative data sets, and the experimental method chosen was multiple cases. This organization intersects with the objective, which is to propose a set of guidelines and a framework for the EC transition. The results confirmed that high-level manufacturing companies are internalizing CE principles with sustainable practices in internal processes to make them more eco-efficient; the results also confirmed that the adoption of new technologies, network collaboration, partnership with universities, and collaboration with stakeholders and value chain partners are key elements that leverage the transition, with the main driver of CE being the innovation. Companies are innovating in product design and development, production processes, and business models for models that slow down or close the production loop. The work brought academic contributions as it advanced knowledge about the transition to CE, showing that the companies surveyed are achieving positive results and competitive advantage, due to environmental gains. As managerial contributions, the set of guidelines and the proposed framework can help managers in the transition and meet the various SDGs (Goals for Sustainable Development) proposed in the UN 2030 Agenda. Political/governmental implications, study limitations, and suggestions for future research were also identified.

Faced with constant and significant changes in production processes, in which the manufacturing industries of goods and services are increasingly challenged, both by the complexity caused by the variation in demand and by the fierce competition imposed by the market, manufacturers need to offer products of high quality, short term, and high customization. In this scenario, Production Planning and Control is an important task of the production system, where developing a reliable demand forecasting process is the first step in searching for optimal plans. This research proposes a demand forecasting system that helps in production planning based on different formalisms of time series and the use of metaheuristics in the optimization of formalisms. Starting from a systematic literature review, summarized from text mining techniques, the work seeks to understand how production planning and demand time series analysis tools interact, enabling their improvement. It was also sought to identify the underlying time series formalisms, the combination techniques, the performance metrics used in forecasting demand for production planning, and the types of manufacturing industry applied. The study allowed, among other things, the elaboration of the conceptual framework on the forecast system to be proposed. In order to assess the quality of the artifact, the demand forecasting system was applied in a goods manufacturing industry in the sector of hygiene, cleaning, and sanitizing products for domestic and professional use. The unit of analysis of this research is demand histories, that is, univariate time series. The forecast was carried out considering individual and combined formalisms, as well as the methodology used by the company. The results of the forecasts were evaluated based on the application of performance metrics and compared to the methodology used by the manufacturing industry (called JUA). The results showed that the demand forecasting system formed with the help of combiners had a superior performance than the company’s forecasting model. Several of the models of the proposed forecast system proved to be adequate for predicting all the time series of the analyzed product family. The results of the application of the artifact suggest that the combination formalisms based on the simple mean (cSA), on artificial neural networks (cANN), on support vectors (cSVR) and on minimum variance (cMV), have superior quality to the JUA methodology. The models can then be used as a forecasting tool for the cleaning product manufacturing industry, in order to reduce the problems of underproduction and overproduction, which cause a substantial and continuous increase in resources tied up in stock, reduced productivity and increased workload of overtime nature. Linking to operational research, forecasts were obtained through a one-step-ahead horizon, which allows managers to optimize the allocation of resources, materials, and costs, focusing on the planning and scheduling of short-term production of the company object of study.

<description>Transferência de tecnologia em organizações hospitalares: suporte multicritério à decisão com base na teoria da capacidade absortiva
Schimith, Cristiano Descovi
This thesis deals with the theme technology transfer inside hospital organizations. In hospitals, the decision to transfer a technology passes through a management body that can assume both roles of demanding and deciding over the technology, which can result in zero-sum competitions or agency dilemmas. This research explores how the process of technology transfer occurs in these organizations, resulting in a metamodel and a method to support this type of decision. The meta-model is proposed under the lens of absorptive capacity theory. The thesis defended by this research is that, identifying process and factors, and analyzing the criteria adopted from the absorptive capacity theory perspective, it is possible to point out biases and to improve the assertiveness of decisions that occur throughout the process of hospital technology transfer. The artifacts produced are lined on the search for generality, although they are based on a qualitative research. Sources of information include documentary analysis, literature review, interviews with members of hospital organizations, and interviews with technology transfer specialists. The theoretical contribution includes a perspective analysis of the technology transfer process inside hospital organizations, using the absorptive capacity theory perspective, and resulting in a multicriteria meta-model to support decision-making. In addition, the main empirical contribution is due to a different way to analyze the hospital technology transfer process, especially considering the dimensions proposed by the absorptive capacity theory, and using a multicriteria approach to rationalize the decisions during the process of technology transfer.

<title>Qual o valor do seu empregado? Proposta de um modelo de mensuração relativa do capital humano em sistemas produtivos</title>

<description>Qual o valor do seu empregado? Proposta de um modelo de mensuração relativa do capital humano em sistemas produtivos
Schmidt Junior, Reno
The ability to identify, develop, renew and manage intangible assets is a determining factor for organizations to succeed. Among these assets, human capital can be seen as the provider and support of the other elements. Measuring it quantitatively becomes an administrative differential. However, traditional human capital measurement models have gaps, as none is able to provide a quantitative measurement of the employee within the firm. Existing models are able to provide aggregated results, incapable of providing atomized responses. In contrast, the objective of this research is to propose a model for the relative measurement of the human capital of employees, in the companies' productive systems. Therefore, Design Science Research was the method selected to conduct this research, supported by theories about human capital and human resources economics. The model developed was applied in a company that produces stamped metal parts, located in the southern region of Brazil. The results obtained show that the proposed model brings theoretical and managerial contributions. From a theoretical point of view, it offers a way to measure human capital, individually, in changing environments. From a managerial point of view, it helps firms to minimize the problem of asymmetric information, as it offers comparative measurement between employees, directly affecting the moral hazard of a qualified employee operating with a level of effort not compatible with their capabilities, granting it acquires more knowledge to make decisions related to hiring, training, development, retention and layoffs.

<description>Redução de desperdícios de materiais na construção civil: o caso das construtoras que possuem obras distantes da sede da empresa no nordeste do Brasil
Santos, Marcos Aurélio Araújo
The waste of materials has being indicated as one of the mais causes of the cnstruction costs increasing. The thesis investigates as alternative mitigating actions or the practice applications of the Lean Construction can contribute to reduce the waste of materials. The case study investigates fourteen builders from Northeast of Brazil. The results contribute indicating that the waste of materials in construction sites from the Building it is originated in the project and also in the fragility about the identification of suppliers. This deficiency causes na excessive acquisition of materials or the replacement of materials already used by others in reason the non similarity of these materials. To lead with this problem, the results help indicating that professionals already understand the necessity to implantate new Technologies and tactics. However, the results indicate the businessperson resistance in invest on projects. This counterpoint has led professionals to invest n courses with no companies incentive Where They work fr. The results show the attention to problem with providers for distant constructions from the head offices of the companies. To lead with this problem, companies need to identify providers in closest cities to have its demands attended in a system called Just in Time. Therefore, the clusters formation appear as an altenative to minimize stocks and wasting reduction.

<description>Eficiência na distribuição de medicamentos em hospitais: método para identificação e avaliação de ineficiências
Alves, Murilo Barros
The management of the internal drug supply chain in hospitals has attracted considerable attention recently with the advent of the COVID19 pandemic in hospitals. Medicines are a kind of unique product. The main characteristics of the drugs are their shorter shelf life and a high level of service, which causes great difficulty for hospitals in managing their supply chain. This work aims to propose a method that can reduce the inefficiencies resulting from the internal distribution of medications in the hospital chain, contributing to reducing and adequacy of medication stocks and improving availability, ensuring patient care. The theme was revised to identify relevant methodological aspects, possible approaches commonly adopted, main differences between studies and protocols, main challenges, and knowledge gaps. The protocol used for the review was the PRISMA (Prefered Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). Based on this review, qualitative research based on the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology was chosen, having as an artifact the proposal of a management framework for the internal chain of drug distribution in hospitals using RFID technology (Radio Frequency Identification). The proposal intends to provide step-by-step guidance for its implementation in public and private hospitals, aiming to reduce drug waste and disruptions in the flow of the chain. The work consists of a preliminary section on the purpose of the study, definition, a section with the framework proposal, implementation process, evaluation of the proposal by a group of experts, and finally, the final considerations. The group expert evaluated the results of this proposal in a presentation and discussion meeting about the method. The results show that the proposal is feasible and presents itself to organize hospital supply and reduce management costs in planning purchases and distribution of medications. The proposal also presented itself as a possible way to include hospitals in a sustainable process adapted to the circular economy.

<title>Modelo para implantação de inovação frugal em micro e pequenas empresas que produzem para a base da pirâmide</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/9973</link>
<description>Modelo para implantação de inovação frugal em micro e pequenas empresas que produzem para a base da pirâmide
Belém, José de Figueiredo
Frugal innovation is about simplifying products and services by making them attractive, making them accessible to a wider group of consumers. Its trends have been accepted in most countries, but still little disseminated, studied and discussed in the world of entrepreneurship, presenting itself with characteristics of a disruptive process. The present work aims to propose a model for the implementation of frugal innovation in micro and small companies in the Cariri region of Ceará that produce and market to the Base of Pyramid (BoP), in order to contribute to leverage their performance. Therefore, the key constructs of frugal innovation were identified, the existing innovation practices in the companies under study were analyzed, the barriers to frugal innovation were identified, as well as the elements that leverage innovation, evaluating the potential contribution of the proposed model to the performance of the companies in study. For the development of the work, a multiple case study was used in companies from three distinct sectors of the industries that produce and market products predominantly for the base of pyramid (BoP). The investigated companies are in the city of Juazeiro do Norte – Ceará, and are in the plated jewelry, cast aluminum and footwear segments. The model was proposed based on the constructs identified in the literature as well as on the results of empirical research. Also based on what was identified in the survey with companies, a booklet was also developed to guide the application of new frugal innovation practices in micro and small companies working in the Base of the Pyramid environment for consumers of the Base of Pyramid.

<title>Modularização de produtos e customização em massa: evidências teórico-empíricas e proposição de um framework</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/9961</link>
<description>Modularização de produtos e customização em massa: evidências teórico-empíricas e proposição de um framework
Dupont, André Cardoso
This thesis deals with the proposal of a Framework to analyze how the modularization of the product can provide the capacity of Mass Customization (MC), through the system of activities of the company, to obtain the competitive advantage in the organizations. To achieve this objective, a set of publications that deal with the subject was studied and critically evaluated, including conceptual elements such as: i) competitive advantage; ii) creation and appropriation of value; iii) value chain, activity system and the wealth curve; iv) mass customization; v) postponement; vi) customer order decoupling point (CODP); vii) modularization; and viii) relationship between the concepts of mass customization, product modularization, postponement and CODP; and ix) interactions between product modularization, activity system and mass customization. Based on this conceptual framework, the proposition of the framework was elaborated that presents the elements to be considered in obtaining sustainable competitive advantage, based on the capacity of Mass Customization. This framework constitutes an academic proposition, since, the literature indicates a lack of more detailed studies and systematic reviews addressing the ways in which modularization can lead to obtaining capacity in MC and the way in which companies they must organize for that. From the business point of view, the proposed work indicates the importance of organizational understanding of all existing relationships affected by the use of modularization practices in the company and, as a result, it implies encouraging paths that lead to obtaining the advantage in MC. For the consolidation of this Framework, this research used two case studies. One was developed in a truck manufacturer with a long history of product modularization. The other case, on the other hand, was carried out at a company that manufactures road implements with a recent history of implementing product modularization. The extremes indicated by the level of maturity of the modularization process of the products in the cases studied, allowed the analyzes carried out to provide relevant evidence to support that the proposed Framework has sufficient consistency to be considered an alternative to the in-depth understanding of the question proposed by the thesis.

<description>Estratégias competitivas para a indústria da carne bovina do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul: Um estudo das tendências do mercado consumidor e produção
Kontz, Leonardo Betemps
The beef market has an important role in the Brazilian economy and, especially, in the economy of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. Brazil is considered the largest world exporter in the segment and the third largest place in terms of consumption. Rio Grande do Sul, on the other hand, has the highest per capita consumption of beef in the country, but its industry has been losing ground on the national and global scene. Thus, the objective of this thesis was to identify and propose possible competitive strategies, which could be adopted in the beef industry, based on activities already developed in livestock in the geographic and economic space of RS. The research method was the single case study. Among the results obtained, the lack of articulation between livestock and industry and the need to create mechanisms that connect livestock, industry and the entire production chain stand out. Faced with the challenges, the possible strategies listed are: creation of an identity of origin, development of a brand for the product, standardization of production, traceability and elements that value the differentiating attributes of beef produced in Rio Grande do Sul.

This study investigates frugal innovation in the health and restrictive food sectors in Brazil. It is an exploratory study based on qualitative data. To structure the research, a review of the literature on frugal innovation and business model was carried out. The research method used in the present work was the study of multiple cases with micro and small companies that seek, through frugal innovation, ways to solve problems in the scope of health and restrictive feeding. Thus, it was identified that for health and restrictive food companies to achieve economic sustainability, it is necessary to offer services and products to different customers and social incomes. For companies in the health area, there is a great need for products and services. This need is accentuated because health agencies take a long time to release authorization to sell products in this segment. Companies that serve the customers directly do not have complex technologies in their products or services need to involve the consumer as a co-producer of the solution, as opposed to what happens when the product developed is highly complex. For a customer, the company’s reputation and history define the purchase, which is a challenge for these new companies to enter the market, create the need to seek partners with a reputation and a good track record. Based on the findings, we provide implications and future research avenues.

Souza, Marcelo Oliveira de
This thesis develops a method for analysis and decision support in the process of fleet renewal of chartered vessels, dedicated to the supply of maritime units (MU's) for oil and natural gas exploration and production. The purpose of the method is to determine the most appropriate composition of charter contracts, considering the uncertainties related to demand and chartering prices, in order to maintain complete fulfillment of MU's needs at the lowest possible cost. To perform this objective a problem analysis and solution method was developed, which involves: investigation of available information, problem modeling, study and implementation of optimization strategies under uncertainties, value analysis and results evaluation. The method was applied to a real problem of a large oil and gas company operating in Brazil, where different demand and price scenarios were evaluated to arrive at the optimal chartering plan. Results analysis shows that optimization techniques that simultaneously consider uncertainties in the problem mathematical modeling are the most appropriate for solving optimization problems under uncertainties.

Martins, Jonatas Campos
The industrial sector is the largest consumer of energy in the world. In this sector, companies classified as non-energy intensive have untapped energy efficiency potential, such as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It is possible to evidence that the academic literature acknowledges the existence of the so-called energy efficiency gap, which is related to the non-implementation of energy management and energy efficiency measures, despite their cost-benefit ratio. Research to study this untapped potential presents a technological solution and does not address the risks and uncertainties that may influence the adoption of a technological solution. This study aimed to propose a model for evaluating the potential financial impact of energy efficiency and microgeneration actions distributed in non-energy-intensive industrial consumer units. The Dynamic Systems Modeling was used to model the behavior of two medium-sized Brazilian companies. The scenarios considered as uncertainties the variations in the macro energy panorama, changing parameters with Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Tariff Flag (BTar), Energy Development Cost (CDE), National Wide Consumer Price Index (IPCA), Periodic Tariff Review (RTP) that result in the Annual Tariff Review (RTA). Variables specifically related to the environment for the insertion of MGD complemented the scenario variations, representing the different combinations of the Energy Compensation System (SCE), Tax Incentives and subsidies. The estimated financial results of each scenario are presented and analyzed considering the premises of the computational model. The model developed allowed to evaluate complementary measures to the current financial metrics in an uncertain environment, identifying the most robust alternatives. From the model it was possible to identify decisions that would lead to overinvestment and highlight the variables that most influence. The model fills theoretical gaps identified in the literature related to the decision process about energy efficiency investments.

<title>Implantação de inovações em duas organizações hospitalares privadas: proposição de diretrizes para apoio à gestão</title>
<link>http://repositorio.jesuita.org.br/handle/UNISINOS/9549</link>
<description>Implantação de inovações em duas organizações hospitalares privadas: proposição de diretrizes para apoio à gestão
Sousa, Josiano Cesar de
The technological advances observed throughout history have generated the need to&#13;
implementation of innovations in all sectors, not being different in the hospital&#13;
environments, which has caused impacts on the performance and management models&#13;
used. The research question involves seeking an answer to the following problem: How&#13;
can hospitals manage the implementation of innovations, minimizing barriers and&#13;
difficulties arising from them? The objective is to propose a set of guidelines to&#13;
support hospital management during the implementation of innovations. For this&#13;
purpose, in the structure of this thesis, four articles were prepared to support the&#13;
theoretical framework, two of them through a systematic literature review and two&#13;
through a case study. The first article addresses topics related to ―The challenges of&#13;
innovation management in hospital environments‖. The second article deals with&#13;
―Collaborative innovation in services: a case study on the contribution of suppliers to&#13;
the innovation process in hospital environments”. The third article discusses&#13;
“Collaboration networks as an innovation strategy” and the fourth article, called&#13;
“Guidelines for the implementation of innovations in hospital environments”&#13;
presents the result of a case study carried out to support the purpose of this thesis. The&#13;
results allowed to identify that, for the implantation of innovations, the hospital needs&#13;
to: (i) involve internal and external elements for innovation management; (ii) learn to&#13;
innovate; and, (iii) involve mid-level managers in the process of implementing&#13;
innovations. In addition, suppliers can contribute their expertise to the implementation&#13;
of innovations. It is possible to form a collaborative network between suppliers and&#13;
hospitals and obtain the necessary involvement to implement innovative practices. As a&#13;
result, the research presents, a set of guidelines capable of contributing to facilitate the&#13;
process of implantation or implementation of innovations, reducing the managerial&#13;
impacts of resistance to change in the hospital environment.

<description>Gerenciamento de falhas baseado em evidências : proposta de método e protótipo computacional
Ferreira, Adriane Pedroso Dias
The demand to maintain machine performance at acceptable failure rates and low down time is due to the increasing interest and initiatives of the sector, where failure diagnosis and management are important parts of monitoring machine integrity, an indispensable function for industries of the future. The responsible use of strategies that help decision-making in the management and treatment of failures is essential to keep the equipment safe and reliable, without the risk of workplace accidents. In this respect, decision-making for failure management needs to include evidence as part of the information available to decision makers. Thus, the aim of the present study was to propose a method to help in the decision-making of failure management. To that end, Design Science Research was used to conduct the study, whose main finding supports the Evidence-Based Method for Managing Failures (EBMMF) and the Computational Prototype. The method is developed from a combination of resources obtained from a systematic literature review, stages of the approach based on evidence and requirements identified using analysis of existing methods. Its constructive process occurred by means of the improvement cycles conducted, whose criterion is the use of evidence-based management. It was validated using interviews with specialists from multidisciplinary areas. The interviews made it possible to identify the main opportunities for improvement and demonstrate the relevance of this proposal. Finally, the proposed method was refined and the computational prototype implementation process initiated. The aim of the prototype was to support failure management decision making, enabling evidence integration, enhanced performance, better productivity and efficiency, and, most importantly, process safety.
