An increase in the production of urban solid waste was noted in many countries, including Brazil, due to the increase in population and the lack of public control policies. This present work aims to verify if there was an increase in the production of urban solid waste during the pandemic period in the North Coast of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, during the summer season, when many people went to the beaches to escape their routine or even isolate themselves , avoiding contact with people infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The results were obtained by collecting data on the production of waste in the municipalities, together with the municipalities and municipal secretariats involved. Statistical tests were applied where it was proven that of the eight cities that make up the north coast of the state of Rio Grande do Sul (Arroio do Sal, Balneário Pinhal, Capão da Canoa, Cidreira, Imbé, Torres, Tramandaí and Xangri-Lá), only two contained statistically significant data. With this study, it was possible to verify the impacts caused by garbage, while we verified the impacts caused by COVID-19 in the studied municipalities, verifying some sectors that started to produce more waste in this period, as well as the impacts that garbage causes in our environment. There is a clear need for environmental policies to better manage urban solid waste, as well as to assess the impacts they cause on the North Coast of Rio Grande do Sul. Despite advances in knowledge about the natural history of these species, there are still many gaps in the way of life of the larval stages (tadpoles). This study aimed to describe the diet of the tadpoles of Boana curupi, an endangered hylid species. Tadpoles were collected in Atlantic Forest remnants in Santa Catarina, southern Brazil. We analyzed the gastrointestinal contents of 12 tadpoles. We identify food items through visual inspection under an optical microscope. It is important to emphasize that a list of items present in the digestive tract was created, without it being possible to differentiate elements ingested voluntarily and/or involuntarily. Among the probable food resource items, the most frequently registered were macroscopic algae, insects and crustaceans. There were also records of fungi, protozoa, nematodes and flatworms. This suggests a poorly selective diet as to what is eaten and what will effectively serve as a nutritional source. More refined analysis, such as that of stable isotopes, could help to elucidate more precisely which of the items recorded are the most important for the species' diet. Understanding the ecological relationships of marine invertebrates is fundamental to assess the marginal marine health. In this sense, the goals of present studied is identifying the ecological relation between hermit crabs and bryozoan communities. A total of 1,337 shells from death assemblages available in the foreshore zone of Coastal Plain of the Rio Grande do Sul State were analyzed in order to verify how epibionts are present in the shells from death assemblages, and to know whether bryozoans occur in both gastropod and bivalve shells or only in one of these two groups. Balanomorphs, bryozoans, serpulids and bivalves represent the epibionts observed in this study. However, bryozoans only were observed in gastropod shells. According to the results, hermit crabs maybe represent an important influence in the development of bryozoan communities keeping the gastropod shells available in the sediment/water interface. Finally, this study provides an important database to ecological managements in coastal zones. These sedimentary strata are compound by muddy to coarse sand bioturbated beds interpreted as deposition in shallow shelf and marginal marine environments. In the order to do a taxonomic revision, intending a new classification in a generic level is proposed. Additionally, taphonomical and paleoecological approach is presented. Eighteen specimens housed in the Museu de História Geológica do Rio Grande do Sul (MHGeo – Unisinos) was handled to do the taxonomic revision. The taxonomy pointed out morphologic features similar to modern genus Astropecten Gray, 1840. This is the first occurrence to Astropecten in Paleozoic deposits representing the oldest record of the genus. Taphonomically analysis revel an obruption condition to genesis of the fossiliferous deposits. However, a deepest revision is necessary yet.
