Abstract

Problems by a lack of spare parts purchasing policy has caused losses for businesses, especially the unavailability of equipment and the high costs of emergency purchases or rated stocks incorrectly. This work, criteria were discussed which are part of the definition of spare parts acquisition of an industrial plant. Based on the concept of prioritization matrices, a qualitative methodology was developed and presented considering criteria that affect the setting for the purchase of a spare parts. These criteria have a relation ship with each other and end up somehow influencing this definition. The aim of the application of this methodology is to change the definition of purchases of spare parts which is currently made of totally subjective and general manner, in a scientific and structured method. And like that, considering all the criteria involved; establish a priority for procurement of spare parts to ensure greater availability of equipment at a lower investment.
